Disaster Management

District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) is constituted under the Chairmanship of District Magistrate of District, elected representative of the District (Member of Legislative Assembly / Municipal Councilor) is the Co-Chairperson, ADM as CEO, DDMA, Delhi Police, PWD, MCD, and DHS as members. An Emergency Operation Centre( EOC) is set up in the D.C. office. It has members of all the Emergency Support Functionaries(ESFs) for emergency contact.

An Emergency Vehicle is stationed at the DC office. The vehicle is equipped with light Disaster Management Equipment’s like Stone Cutter, Inflatable light tower, Water mist cum compressed fire fighting system, First Aid Kit, etc. This is an attempt by DDMA(South-East) to minimize the response time of agencies remarkably and thereby lessen the degree of damage to both mankind and material.

There is a 24X7 Quick Response Team (QRT) operating under District Disaster Management Institute (DDMA). It acts as the first responder and has civil defense volunteers trained in fire fighting, search & rescue, first aid, etc.

 

About QRT

  •  Each QRT shall operate under the overall command, supervision, and guidance of the concerned Deputy Commissioner(Revenue)/ Chairperson, DDMA.
  •  Deputy Commissioner shall maintain and update complete personal details and addresses of all QRT members.
  •  Chairman, DDMA shall appoint an officer-in-charge(nodal officer) of the QRT, not below the rank of SDM in the District to oversee, monitor, and manage QRT.
  •  The QRT vehicle shall be stationed in the office of the Deputy Commissioner concerned.

 

Activation of QRT Team

Upon confirmation of any disaster/ emergency incident, the QRT shall be activated by the concerned District Emergency Operation Centre( EOC)/ Incident Commander(not below the level of SDM). The Incident Commander (not below the level of SDM) should also inform the State EOC about the movement of the QRT vehicle.

Mock drills are conducted at regular intervals for making the District disaster-ready.
